Uncle John has his first Richard Coyle moment as he and Scotto discuss a movie that shows just how much Ben Kingsley and Forest Whitaker like to get paid. This week on Zombie Take-Out, from 1995, it’s Species. Was it just a remake of Lifeforce? Did most of the budget go to Kingsley and Whitaker’s salaries? Podcast celebrates 50th episode with a 50th Anniversary look at Alfred Hitchcock’s landmark film.

August 25, 2010: Zombie Take-Out, the cult and B-movie podcast, invites everyone to commemorate the film that took B and cult movies into the mainstream, Psycho, at www.zombietakout.com. Hosted by Chicago resident, Scotto, and New Jersey Shore resident, Uncle John, Zombie Take-Out (ZTO) examines a different B or cult movie with each episode. ZTO’s 50th episode will take a look at the original Alfred Hitchcock directed Psycho, released August 25, 1960, as well as the 1998 remake starring Vince Vaughn.
ZTO is always free to listen to, can be found on iTunes or www.zombietakeout.com, and is intended for mature audiences only. Uncle John and Scotto have been confounding listening, reading, and theatre-going audiences for over 18 years. In their latest project, ZTO, they combine absurdist humor with their literary backgrounds to discuss movies that are most often over-looked by mainstream culture.
Psycho, of course, has never been over-looked by anyone, so why review it? When asked, Scotto said, “It’s the Jackie Robinson of B movies! A movie about a transvestite serial killer made for about 2% of the entire budget for 1963’s Cleopatra? This elevated the B movie like no other. This proved that talent and ingenuity trumps budget any day.”
